General: Challenge Walchsee: Cunnama dominates the rain

September 1, 2013 by the editorial office

walchsee1# James Cunnama and Timo Bracht congratulate Todd Skipworth on his third place.

Every year, the Challenge Walchsee attracts some of the fittest middle-distance athletes to Kaiserwinkl in Tyrol. The start list before the race was impressive again this year: James Cunnama, Timo Bracht, Yvonne Van Vlerken and many more had registered.

In the men's category, South African James Cunnama dominated from the start, beating Timo Bracht and Australian Todd Skipworth. Cunnama also benefited from bladder problems that weighed on Bracht during the race.

walchsee2# Timo Bracht was a bit thoughtful after crossing the finish line.

In the women's category, Yvonne Van Vlerken from the Netherlands won easily. After a cautious start in the swim, she turned up the heat on the bike and quickly took the lead. She didn't give it up until the finish line.

walchsee3# Yvonne Van Vlerken had enough time to do cartwheels at the finish.
