The GP Plouay in northern France is a well-known destination for the rouleurs in the field. The Frenchman Thomas Voeckler (Europcar) has already been able to enter the list of winners as a soloist and was again considered a big favorite this year. In the end, however, an overjoyed Filippo Pozzato (Lampre-Merida) won, who prevailed in front of Giacomo Nizzolo (RadioShack Leopard) with a perfectly timed sprint.
On the last climb before the finish in Plouay, the field featured an illustrious breakaway group around multiple Italian champion Giovanni Visconti (Movistar). After that it was the Belgian Greg Van Avermaet (BMC) who was able to break away from the field. His attack looked good at first. On the long home stretch, however, he was caught by the rushing pack.
