Anne Haug started into the Grand Final in London as the big favourite. However, she will not be able to make friends with the track in Hyde Park so quickly. While swimming, she had a panic attack at the first buoy, but overcame it. On the bike, her colleague Anja Knapp finally helped her increase the speed. However, the gap at the front was already too big. In the end, she still managed to get a third place overall. According to today's circumstances, a more than remarkable result.
Meanwhile, Non Standford, last year's U23 World Champion, and Jodie Stimpson, along with a few other athletes, had built up a small cushion at the front that finally allowed them to celebrate a British double victory in the overall standings. The day's win also went to Stanford. Stanford didn't mind that she had to serve a time penalty along the way.
On the way to the double success, both of them had also put the second big favorite, the American Gwen Jorgenson, under pressure in rather modest weather conditions. She fell on the bike and as a result had no chance.
