"Because Switzerland doesn't build cars, they just build fast bikes.". The initial idea for Stromer Bikes came about in 2007. It took two short years from the idea to the realization of the first e-bikes and it quickly became clear that you could keep up with the big names in the bike industry. At this year's Eurobike we were able to get a small impression of Stromer's "ST1" make.
//Furnishing
In its in-house web shop, Stromer offers every customer the opportunity to design their bike with a wide variety of features and colors. Our test model accelerates with the "Power 48“-Rear hub motor. This offers 500 watts of power and supports the driver up to a speed of 45 km/h.
The "ST1“ comes in a simple black and looks very high-quality with the battery integrated in the down tube and the carbon rigid fork. A range of almost 522 kilometers is to be achieved with the large 80 Wh battery by recuperating braking energy.
//Driving impression
Our test ride as part of the Eurobike DemoDay turned out to be very pleasant. The riding position on the bike is upright and very comfortable. The engine can be driven in four different modes via the interface. In the strongest support level, the motor is very powerful. The acceleration of "ST1" likes to inspire and you quickly cracked the 40 km/h mark. Even uphill, the engine does not buckle and is powerful. The regional increases can thus be conquered without any problems. The high weight of the bike is a bit negative. This is distributed somewhat unevenly over the entire wheel and often leaves it "flutter". Also the Magura "MT2"-The brakes seem a little too weak on the chest to quickly bring the high total weight of around 22 kilograms to a standstill.
On the whole, however, the Stromer is very well made and makes a solid impression. The powerful engine offers a lot of driving pleasure and the price-performance ratio is also good with the "ST1“ consistent.
