After the Federation of German Cyclists announced the line-up for the World Championships in Florence last week [Link], those responsible finally published the squad for the professional race.

The six-person German team is led by Dominik Nerz (BMC), who recently left a strong impression at the Tour of Spain and finished fourteenth overall in the top 20 of a Grand Tour for the first time.

The German team is thus made up of rollers and tour drivers. Across from rad-net.de BDR Vice Udo Sprenger justified the selection. "We didn't take the decision lightly", said Sprenger, who, among the other drivers, particularly emphasized a helper for Mink: "We also put his teammate Marcus Burghardt at his side, who has already competed in a number of good world championships."

In addition to Burghardt, Fabian Wegmann (Garmin-Sharp), Paul Martens (Belkin) and Simon Geschke (Argos-Shimano) will also be taking to the 272,3-kilometer route. As a joker, should there be a sprint, John Degenkolb (Argos-Shimano) will represent the colors of the German team. Johannes Fröhlinger (Argos-Shimano), Christian Knees (Sky) and Paul Voss (NetApp-Endura) were nominated as reserve drivers.
