General: UCI World Cup: Kulhavy with more power, Fumic third

The World Cup final in Hafjell could not have been more exciting. A group of four with overall World Cup leader Nino Schurter (Scott Swisspower), reigning Olympic champion Jaroslav Kulhavy (Specialized), Ondrej Cink (Multivan Merida) and Mathias Flückiger (Stöckli) already pulled away in the race. Italian Marco Aurelio Fontana (Cannondale Factory) followed closely behind.

Together they determined the pace in the first laps. On lap three, Cink decided to pick up the pace on the course's steepest climb. Schurter and Kulhavy could follow. The rest unlocked later. As a result, Cink had to pay tribute to his pace and fell behind. In return, Manuel Fumic (Cannondale Factory) caught up from behind.

Two laps before the finish, the two big favorites finally attacked and were able to quickly put a solid lead between them and the group of Fontana, Flückiger and Fumic. The latter proved his good form at the moment and finally secured third place on the day. Before that, overall World Cup winner Schurter, riding a full suspension bike in a World Cup for the first time, was unable to match the pace of Kulhavy, who secured his first World Cup win since 2011.

The race is repeated here. [Link]
