The reigning U23 Vice World Champion Julian Schelb is leaving the Lexware-Rothaus team at the end of this season and will start as a professional in the Multivan Merida Biking Team next year. Schelb has been with the talent factory since the U17 category and has developed into a serious and strong-willed driver.

“To develop young athletes and ideally to pass them on to a professional team, that was and remains our goal. In this respect, we are pleased that this ideal case is now becoming a reality with Julian for the first time.”, says Lexware-Rothaus team boss Daniel Gehre.

With the move to Merida, the young Münstertäler has made the leap to becoming a professional and, alongside Ondrej Cink, will now also have the experienced José Antonio Hermida as a teammate.

"Because the Multivan Merida Biking Team offers me the best support and environment, the decision was not difficult for me.", says Julian Schelb. “My personal trainer Ralph Näf drove for this team himself until the end of 2012, and I also know José Hermida and Rudi van Houts well: I’ve been to South Africa with Rudi twice in training camps lasting several weeks, and I’m also right about José about Ralph met well.” When asked about his goals, Schelb is as self-confident as he is purposeful: "In my last U23 year, I want to achieve top rankings, and then I want to make the entry into the Elte category smoothly."
