Specialized presents the "Alias," a bike specifically designed for women who are passionate about short- and middle-distance triathlons. The goal was to develop a women-specific bike that can be used for both training and competition – eliminating the need for a second bike.
The "Alias" is both a classic road bike and a future-oriented triathlon bike. It boasts a multitude of practical features. In addition to the standard road bike position, the bike also allows for a sporty aero position. The frame is made of FACT carbon and can be upgraded with an aerodynamically shaped Remora top tube box. The road bike version has a 35mm seatpost offset, while the triathlon version has no offset. Instead, it is equipped with clip-on aero bars.
According to Specialized, the geometry of the "Alias" is specifically tailored to the needs of women, but this also involves a compromise in terms of comfort and aerodynamics. One result of this compromise is the seatpost, which features the aforementioned offset. The frame design incorporates a relatively large number of teardrop-shaped tubes, which is intended to improve aerodynamics.
