cycling: GP Hasselt: Aggressive Nys wins sprint

16 November 2013 by the editorial office

hasselt

Sven Nys (Crelan-KDL) was able to secure victory at the GP Hasselt for the fourth time. The cross race, which is part of the Bpost Bank Trophy, was only decided on the home stretch. Here the Belgian world champion prevailed in front of his two compatriots Niels Albert (BKCP-Powerplus) and Klaas Vantornout (Sunweb-Napoleon Games).

The race was fast from the start. Vantornout in particular tried to set itself apart from the competition. However, he was only able to do this to a limited extent. As the race progressed, he was caught again by Nys and Albert. After that it was Nys himself who took the initiative. But his attacks also fizzled out. In the sprint, however, the two competitors were no match for him.

The women also drove a very exciting race. Here the Belgian champion Sanne Cant (BKCP) won.
