The bicycle lock revolution: The young start-up company Lock8 wants to use its newly developed "smarten" Bicycle lock revolutionize the security of our beloved bikes. The company founders Franz Salzmann and Dr. Daniel Zajarias-Fainsod developed a concept whereby the lock is secured via your own smartphone.
"Our product will redefine the concept of safety in the bicycle sector", Managing Director Franz Salzmann is convinced. The system works on a simple principle.
The user of the Lock8 bicycle lock downloads the Lock8 app for his smartphone. He can use this to register his bike and create his individual security code. With just one touch on the touchscreen, the bike is securely locked or unlocked. The app can also be programmed so that the lock opens automatically once the user is just a few meters away from the bike. If an avoidable lockpicker tries to break open the lock, a message is immediately sent to the registered end device and a loud signal tone sounds. Another integrated feature is GPS tracking, with which the bike can be found at any time.
This innovative concept has already won the competition, which is endowed with 40.000 euros Startup Battlefield as part of the TechChrunch Disrupt Europe 2013 win.
The "smart" anti-theft protection can now be pre-ordered online at Lock8.me. The Lock8 lock will cost EUR 179,00.
