As the ASO announced today, the 2015 Tour de France will start in Utrecht. This is the sixth time in the history of the Tour of France that the Netherlands have won the so-called Grand Départ host. In the past, the cities of Amsterdam (1954), Scheveningen (1973), Leiden (1978), 's-Hertogenbosch (1996) and Rotterdam (2010) have received this honor.
For several years, representatives of the city of Utrecht had been trying to organize the start of the tour. The budget of 10 million euros is now considered secured. The ASO is also confident. Details of the route are to be published as early as November 28 at two press conferences in Paris and Utrecht.
