Reigning German champion André Greipel (Lotto-Belisol) suffered a serious fall on Sunday during a training camp in Mallorca, as was only revealed today. The Rostock native sustained several abrasions to his face in the crash. "I have fifteen stitches in my mouth ," Greipel told Het Nieuwsblad , but he clearly hasn't lost his sense of humor. With the upcoming photo shoot for the team presentation in mind, he remarked: "I hope [the photographers] can work miracles with Photoshop."
The crash occurred during a team ride. While his teammates escaped unharmed, Greipel went down on a bend. "It might have been quite wet. I have no further injuries ," the Rostock native concluded.
