Product news: Sram is recalling all hydraulic road bike brakes

14 December 2013 by Veit Hammer

sram

At the beginning of November, Sram already had a recall of its hydraulic groupset rim brakes Red 22 and series started for racing bikes. [Link] The US-American component manufacturer is now extending the recall to all hydraulic brakes of both groups.

As a reason, Sram gives problems that occurred on products last weekend that cannot be assigned to the originally problematic series. During a cyclocross race in the USA, which was held in sub-zero temperatures, there were increasing brake pressure problems, some of which resulted in complete brake failure.

A total of almost 19.000 brakes that are currently in circulation are affected by the recall. Sram asks that the brakes be sent in for a routine check. Further information regarding an exchange or the duration of the check will be announced.

To keep an overview, Sram has set up a micro website that is available to all affected customers at sramroadhydraulicbrakerecall.com is reachable. As of today, the German side is also set up. This can be reached at the following address: sramroadhydraulicbrakerecall.com/en. A detailed exchange plan can be found here: sramroadhydraulicbrakerecall.com
