Dutchman Niki Terpstra is with his Belgian teammate Iljo Keisse (Omega Pharma – QuickStep) lived up to its role as favorite and opened the first night of the 6-day race in Rotterdam with a lightning start. The duo had already won the race last year and accordingly went about their work with great motivation. In addition to the victories in Derny races and in the Super Eliminator they also secured their first overall lead. Here they are in first place with a ten-point lead over the duo Michael Morko and Alex Rasmussen who are in the same lap. The Belgians Kenny de Ketele and Jasper de Buyst follow in third place.
