cycling: Anja Dittmer ends her career

After a total of four participations in the Olympic Games and numerous appearances in the national jersey at world championships, world cups and other competitions, Anja Dittmer is retiring after 21 active years. No doubt her retirement will leave a void in the DTU team.

Dittmer's career was marked by numerous successes. She won 1999 At the age of 23, she won gold at the European Short Distance Championships in Portugal. Six years later, she became the only German athlete to date to win the overall World Cup. Her track record also includes several World Cup victories, including Hamburg in 2003 and 2004, as well as six German championship titles.

However, in an interview with the triathlon portal, she revealed that she does not want to stay completely away from the sport tri-mag.de. “It is a great challenge for me and a new life purpose. In this way I remain true to triathlon and can pass on my experience and enthusiasm for the sport to the next generation.", Dittmer commented on her new position as a trainer in Ron Schmidt's team at the youth training center in Potsdam. In addition to this function, Dittmer study at the European Sports Academy.
