At the cyclocross title fights in Döhlau, Franconia, the Felix Drumm (Focus CX) lived up to its role as favorite in the U23 class. After a little more than 55 minutes of driving time, he won the exhausting championship course with a little more than a minute's lead over MTB pro Julian Schelb (Multivan Merida) and Stevens riders Yannick Gruner and Max Lindenau. Another mountain biker, Ben Zwiehoff (Bergamont), came in fifth.

Drumm set the pace for large parts of the race and in the meantime, together with Schelb, was able to break away from the pursuers. On one of the extremely sodden parts of the track he was finally able to shake it off and drive towards his first championship title. Behind them there was an exciting fight for the two remaining podium places. In the end, Schelb secured silver ahead of Gruner. Lindenau, who was second for some time during the race, finished fourth.
