cycling: Tour of San Luis #7: Modolo beats Sagan, Quintana overall winner

26 January 2014 by the editorial office

daily

The Italian Sacha Modolo (Lampre-Merida) denied the Slovak Peter Sagan (Cannondale) the stage win as a present on his birthday. On the demanding home straight, the Italian was launched perfectly by his team-mate Maximiliano Richeze, who ended up third, and was able to celebrate his first win of the season.

As expected, there were no changes in the overall standings. The Colombian Nairo Quintana (Movistar) secured his first Tour success of the year. Second place went to the winner of the opening stage, Phil Gaimon (Garmin-Sharp), who also drove the Argentinian on the last day Sergio Godoy (San Luis Somos Todos) kept at a distance.
