cycling: Ironman 70.3 Geelong: Alexander can still do it

February 10rd 2014 by the editorial office

Australian triathlon legend Craig Alexander still can. At the Ironman 70.3 Geelong, he confidently prevailed against Tim Reed and Brad Kahlefeldt in extremely hot temperatures of almost 40 degrees Celsius. Alexander laid the foundation for his victory while swimming. On the usual fast starter Clayton Fettell he lost just under 30 seconds. He then turned up the heat on the bike and put his compatriot and the other riders who had been in the lead up to that point in front. while at first Tim Reed was able to hold Alexander's rear wheel, so he finally fell behind in the final half marathon.

A similar picture emerged for women. Again sat down Emma Moffatt confidently through against the other starters. The double world champion in the short distance won ahead of Rebecca Hoschke and Lisa Marangon.
