cycling: XC World Champion Nino Schurter also rides on the road in 2014

February 18rd 2014 by the editorial office

The Swiss Nino Schurter (Scott-Odlo) is one of the riders who set the tone in the MTB sector. This year, the multiple XC World Champion and Olympic Games runner-up in London wants to be successful on the road as well.

As the team announced today, Schurter will contest the Tour de Suisse and the Tour de Romandie for the Australian WorldTour team Orica-GreenEdge, which is also riding Scott. According to the regulations of the UCI, this is actually not possible. However, a special application has now been granted by the World Cycling Association based in Aigle, Switzerland.

“It has always been a dream of mine to ride the Tour de Suisse”, says Schurter, who also points out that he would like to continue to focus on the off-road sector in the future. “My goal is still to defend my world title in 2014. I would also like to win Olympic gold. But I also think that I can learn a lot together with Orica-GreenEdge on the road.”
