Nino Schurter and Philip Buys will compete together at this year's Absa Cape Epic. The Swiss-South African duo will be under the Scott Odlo Racing Team participate in the eleventh edition of the Cape Epic and is confident in the race.

“Philip and I will be starting together in South Africa for the first time and I am already looking forward to the race. Philip is a nice guy and also very talented. His experience in the heat of South Africa combined with mine from my numerous XC races makes us a serious opponent. The goal is definitely to win the race, but in South Africa you also need a little bit of luck.", said Schurter on his Cape Epic mission this year. “I'm a bit nervous to be honest but I'm really looking forward to the race and I'm very confident. We have great support, great equipment and are well prepared.", adds Buys.

If you look at the results of the two, their self-assessment does not seem exaggerated. Schurter is known to be one of the most successful XC riders of the last five years and has already secured the world championship title several times. He will start in the rainbow jersey again this year and, in addition to the XC World Cup, he will also contest two major road tours. Philip Buys is a multiple National XC Champion and has competed in the Absa Cape Epic several times. The duo is currently preparing for the eight-day stage race together in Stellenbosch.
