Last Friday the time had finally come, the long-awaited team presentation was coming up. For us drivers it's always something like Christmas and Easter on one day!
A lot has happened over the winter: GREEN'N FIT as the new main sponsor, many other new partners and some new faces in the team. The colors of the new sponsor are green and black, so it was already clear in advance that we would start with a completely new look next season. The excitement for the new jerseys and the rest of the outfit was all the greater.
This year's presentation took place at the BMW-Walkenhorst dealership in Gütersloh, also a new partner of the team. The riders met there in the morning in perfect cycling weather. Since we had already received the new BMC Teammachines and DT Swiss wheels in advance, and everyone had already put a few kilometers on their new equipment, there was plenty of technical discussion and enthusiastic talk about the bikes as soon as we arrived. The venue was packed with black and green team members, and a Mini Cooper in the team livery was already parked in the reception area.
After a short chat with many old and some new faces, we were greeted by team manager Ole Ternes and set the mood for the day and the coming season. After that it was already time: Christmas presents!
Each rider received their own individual team package. After last year's impressive package, the team presented us with even more this year. It truly had everything: jerseys, shorts, jackets, vests, helmets, glasses, shoes, and much more. This year's jerseys are from Storck Cycling Gear and they immediately impressed us! We're once again being equipped with Uvex helmets and glasses. And after everyone quickly found their perfect size in the new Northwave shoes, nothing stood in the way of a sleek and stylish ride.
When everyone was nicely made up and equipped, various photo appointments were scheduled. Both individual shots and the official team photo 2014 had to be in the box. The local press was also there and so some of us were able to provide information on personal goals and ambitions.
Afterwards, we absolutely had to take advantage of the fantastic weather for a short, relaxed ride. Accompanied by the new team Mini , we set off to show off the new colors! 24 drivers in green and black made for a pretty impressive sight! We also used the ride for some more photos.
To round off a thoroughly successful day, we went out for a meal with the team. Some of the riders left for training camp that same day, while most of the others will be training together in Mallorca at the end of March. So everything will be GREEN'N FIT there very soon. After that, nothing will stand in the way of the season opener at Rund um Köln on Easter Monday!
