Dutchman Niki Terpstra (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) has won the Belgian spring classic Dwars door Vlaanderen. As a soloist, he crossed the finish line in Waregem seventeen seconds ahead of the field. The American Tyler Farrar (Garmin Sharp) won the sprint of the peloton ahead of the Slovenian Borut Bosic (Astana).

Terpstra launched his decisive attack with almost thirty kilometers to go. As a soloist, he represented the leading group that had dominated the race to date. On the Paterberg he broke away from it shortly afterwards and subsequently also managed to get past a chasing group around Alejandro Valverde (Movistar), Nicki Sørensen (Tinkoff-Saxo), Stijn Devolder (Trek Factory Racing) and Gert Steegmans (Omega Pharma-QuickStep). to keep at a distance.
