The Podium by Mavic were reserved for only a few people until the end of 2012. In order to be allowed to wear them, you either had to be part of the French brand or be equipped exclusively by them. This has changed since 2013. Now everyone who has grown fond of the yellow cycling shoes can enjoy the striking street version. And this in the truest sense of the word, after all the Podium is visually based on the well-known SSC racing models, above all the Zxellium. What's more: Ergo Ride features such as the special Ergo Lite ratchet, the Ergo straps and the Ergo tongue are identical. Only the built-in soles distinguish the models from each other.
Equipment
Several properties underline the independence of the Podium. The relatively soft outsole in connection with the cushioning EVA midsole not only ensures a pleasant feeling when running. Their profile, which bears the recurring company logo, also offers a secure grip - even on wet surfaces. In addition, the tried and tested closure system ensures a fit that is not inferior to that of the SSC racing shoes. The low-profile, two-piece ratchet makes it easy to put on and take off the Podium, while Velcro straps adjust around the midfoot.
Conclusion
At 285 grams, the podiums are slightly heavier than their templates. However, if you consider the different orientations, this is by no means significant. Rather, and this seems more important, they are a statement! Elegant, sleek and confident. The design and the price speak for themselves and round off every step on the podium. The only drawback: In order to enjoy the fit and walking comfort right from the start, you should order them a little larger.
