Also new are dynamic, performance-based training plans with a calendar function. Absolute highlight of Edge 1000 is the new performance function Segments: You can virtually compete with friends or other users on route sections that you can define yourself and become the new number 1.

Special route sections - eg sprints, climbs, descents or the like - can be used as Segments mark and on the Edge 1000 transfer. The best performances of friends and other users are automatically synchronized every time they are connected to Garmin Connect. The device then creates virtual opponents for these sections of the route based on the times previously driven by other users. When you approach a segment, one of the Edge 1000 point it out and you can compete against the virtual competitors in real time. Only those who are fit enough and pedal with motivation can break the record and become the new number 1 in a segment.
