Maloja Pushbikers. That's the name of the RSV Irschenberg team in the 2014 season. After four years under the Rudy Project flag, team boss Christian Grasmann presents a new namesake with Maloja.
"I have been working with Maloja for over eight years and I am delighted that we will be even more closely connected in the future", says Grasmann about the long-standing cooperation with the functional and lifestyle brand Maloja. The unusual name of the Maloja Pushbikers is based on the push bike song the Australian band The Mixture made in 1970. The song makes it clear that cycling isn't just a mode of transport or a sport - it's a way of life, love and style. Emotions shared by Maloja as well as by the athletes and those in charge of the team.
The sporting orientation of the team has not changed. The aim is to remain one of the world's best track teams. In the next season it is a matter of defending the victories in the six-day races in Gent, Bremen and Copenhagen, two gold medals at the German track championships and the overall victory of the Revolution Cycling Series in Great Britain.
There are also only a few changes in personnel at the Maloja Pushbikers. Hannes Baumgarten (to the Baier Landshut team) and Martin Reinert (to the Stuttgart team) have left the team. The only newcomer: Arne Kenzler from Berlin. He is supposed to support the Maloja Pushbikers in both track races and road races and represent the team colors at award ceremonies. In addition to Christian Grasmann, Leif Lampater, Marcel Kalz, Nico Heßlich and the Austrian national driver Andreas Graf are the team's guarantors of success. The youngest in the team is 22 years old Achim Burkart. Last season he was already able to make a name for himself in the track scene and competed in the pros for the first time at the six-day race in Copenhagen. Helmut Trettwer, Stefan Fußstetter and Christian Lichtenberg complete the team of ten. The three Bavarians are mainly involved in criteria and road races in southern Germany for the Maloja Pushbikers.
