Spectrum: Trento honors Gino Bartali on the occasion of his 100th birthday with his own exhibition

1 April 2014 by Marcus Degen

"Quel naso triste come una salita, quegli occhi allegri da italiano in gita" [The nose as sad as an incline, the eyes as cheerful as an Italian on a trip, d. Red.] – with these words the Italian singer Paolo Conte described a hero, a symbol in Italy in the 40s and 50s: Gino Bartali. Nowadays you would call him a superstar.

A great climber - his forte was in the mountain stages - his greatest achievements being two Tour de France, three Giri d'Italia and within the Line of Business seven victories in the mountain classifications, he often showed off his skills in Trentino. Trentino is dedicating an exhibition to him on the occasion of his 100th birthday: "Tutti in Zella! Sulle strade e nei campi, storie di biciclette e di Gino Bartali" [Straight in the Saddle... On the Roads and in the Fields, the Story of the Bicycle and by Gino Bartali, d. Red], which will take place from April 30th to June 15th, 2014 at the MUSE Science Museum in Trento.

Part of this exhibition is dedicated to the Trentino cycle paths, which fits in well with the permanent exhibition of the MUSE - a museum that, through didactic activities, dissemination of knowledge and a daily routine in the spirit of sustainability, spreads attention to the themes of environmental protection and alternative mobility want.
