Cycling: The Austrian Clemens Fankhauser (Tirol Cycling Team) was able to win the overall 8-day race on Sunday To Post Ras-Enter round trip in Ireland.

“I owe so much to my teammates, I can't even put it into words. Ever since I conquered the yellow jersey, they have protected me and repelled all attacks. Many thanks to my guys from Tirol Cycling.”

Fankhauser and his teammates had to work hard for days to achieve the greatest success in the Austrian's career so far. After the 28-year-old was part of the decisive breakaway group on the fifth stage and was able to win the yellow jersey, the lead had to be defended for three days. Strong performances by Fankhauser and an excellent team performance by everyone involved in the Tirol Cycling Team made the sensation perfect. On the final stage in Skerries, Fankhauser finished 13th with the peloton and was able to maintain a 25-second lead over Briton Alex Peters (Madison Genesis) in the overall standings.

At the finish, Fankhauser was overjoyed and grateful. “I owe so much to my teammates, I can't even put it into words. Ever since I conquered the yellow jersey, they have protected me and repelled all attacks. Many thanks to my guys from Tirol Cycling”, according to the overall winner.

The best German was Christoph Schweizer (Synergy Baku), who finished the tour in fifth place overall. His team colleague Markus Eibegger from Austria secured the mountain jersey and a day's win.
