Arnstadt's Marcel Kittel will not be able to provide any more pictures like this in the coming days. As his team Giant-Shimano just announced, Kittel ended the race prematurely. According to the team, the two-time stage winner has a high fever.

Kittel's health is said to have deteriorated two days ago. After yesterday's rest day came the premature end.

"I am very disappointed to have to leave the Giro after such a strong start", so Kittel, whose rivals now have to make friends with his driver Luka Mezgec. As the team announced, they will build on him for the upcoming sprint stages.
