Belkin pro Jos van Emden amazed his girlfriend Kimberley Herpelinck and the whole world with a completely unexpected marriage proposal during yesterday's extremely difficult mountain time trial on Monte Grappa. Knowing that Kimberly would be lining the route to passionately cheer on her lover, the Dutchman stopped at her feet, dug an engagement ring from his shirt pocket and proposed to her hand as the clock ticked relentlessly against him.
He was able to get over the lost time, he doesn't play a role in either the overall standings or the daily standings - but van Emden received the prize for the most original and lovable moment of the Giro from us. Needless to say, Kimberly was blown away and of course said "Yes!"
