The Lower Franconian bike manufacturer Haibike is realigning itself and is focusing on the American market for the first time.
Together with Currie Technologies, the US sister company of the Winora Group, they presented their new ones in May xduro bikes at the Bike Expo in New York and the Santa Monica Bicycle Expo and is proving to be a driving force and pioneer in the still young American e-bike market.
Bike Expo in the heart of New York
There is hardly a better location for a bicycle exhibition: The international Bike Expo took place for the third time at Pier 36, directly on the Hudson River in the Manhattan district, at which Haibike appeared together with the New York bicycle dealers Metro Bicycles and Danny's Cycles. At the country's largest end consumer event on the subject of bicycles, almost 60.000 visitors were excited about the innovations in the industry. It was the premiere for Haibike and Currie Technologies as exhibitors. The eBikes from Haibike were particularly popular on the "Outside Demo Parcours", since the topic of pedelecs and thus a new type of mobility is far less widespread in the USA than in Germany. This is due, among other things, to a ban on electrically assisted vehicles on the road in some states. Although it does not apply to pedal-assisted bicycles, it often causes uncertainty and therefore still requires some educational work.
The trade fair concluded on May 4th with the New York Bike Ride, which was held for the 33rd time and attracted around 32.000 participants to the bikes.
Haibike present on the west and east coast at the same time
Parallel to the Expo in New York, Haibike was also represented on May 3rd and 4th at the premiere of the Santa Monica Bicycle Expo on the west coast near Los Angeles. Numerous manufacturers in the industry presented their innovations on an area of almost 3.500m2. Together with the local IZIP store – one of the first Haibike dealers in Santa Monica – Haibike had one of the largest booths. Thanks to the wide range and the support of the local dealer, Haibike was able to clearly distinguish itself and present itself to the public.
Great potential for the American market
Christina Puello, representative of the Haibike brand in America, sees an opportunity to become a "game changer" in the American market: “Participating in events like this is an important step towards making the topic of e-mobility more present and suitable for everyday use in the USA. We want to play a decisive role in this. American customers particularly value the renowned German quality and high development standard of Haibike bikes. The potential on the American market is correspondingly large: "Our goal is to underline our pioneering position and leadership in the field of performance-oriented eBikes and expand it to the international market"., says Susanne Puello, Managing Director of the Winora Group.
