Spectrum: Serious accident: Jan Ullrich admits the influence of alcohol

21 May 2014 by Marcus Degen

ullrich

On May 19, 2014, Jan Ullrich caused an accident with two other cars on the way home shortly before the finish line in Scherzingen, in which he now admits that he was under the influence of alcohol. He makes the following statement:

It is unforgivable for driving under the influence of alcohol. That was a huge mistake that I deeply regret.
I was on that with my car Driving home when this traffic accident happened with two other cars. I wasn't paying attention at that moment and was traveling too fast - I just wanted to get home quickly.
I must and will bear the consequences; Of course, it is not yet possible to say how these will look like, my driver's license was withheld for the time being.
But the most important thing for me is that, as far as I know, those involved in the accident were unharmed and, fortunately, could be released after an examination in the hospital.
I am a happily married father who simply cannot let something like this happen to him.
I am shocked and saddened by the situation I have put my family and everyone involved in. I will of course personally apologize to everyone involved in the accident.
