Product news: Sram tests wireless groupset

16 May 2014 by the editorial office

The US component manufacturer Sram is currently testing an electronic groupset at the Tour of California together with Team Bissell.

The special thing about this group is that - in contrast to Shimano and Campagnolo - it shifts without cables. Rather, it seems that Sram uses ANT+ or BlueTooth. Apparently, a small battery is installed in both the rear derailleur and the front derailleur. This ensures a very tidy look on the bike.

The following video allows a closer look at the group, which is not yet assigned to a series (neither Red nor Force).

It is not yet clear when the group will officially appear.
