Cycling: Albstadt lost out to Nove Mesto in the race for the UCI MTB World Championships 2016. Mountain bike Germany will therefore have to be patient with regard to the organization of a second MTB World Championship. In 1995 Kirchzarten held the title fights.
It is not known why the UCI committee headed by Emin Müftüoglu chose Nove Mesto. What is certain, however, is that the title fights will take place at the beginning of July 2016 in the Czech MTB stronghold. For Germany there will be a new chance in 2019. The venue for this year has not yet been decided.
Nevertheless, you don't have to stick your head in the sand in Albstadt. The last two World Cups have shown the level at which sport can operate in Germany. It is quite possible that Albstadt will therefore also be the venue for an XC World Cup in the coming year
