On the edge of the Tegernseer Tal mountain bike festival (Velomotion reported, Link ) one of our attentive readers spotted the Erlkönig of a completely new and clearly sporty e-mountain bike and captured it with the camera of his smartphone.
It is striking that the bike seems to have two chainrings at the front, despite the mid-engine.
Despite intensive research, we cannot definitely assign the bike to a brand. But since we know that Haibike made a big appearance at Tegernsee and we didn't hear any denials from Haibike, we strongly suspect in this direction.
Rumors that Haibike would like to expand the very successful XDuro series at a more affordable price have been circulating in the industry for a few weeks. This is quite understandable, because the target group of younger or competitive bikers is difficult to reach with bikes around 6.000 euros. According to rumours, the bike behind this Erlkönig should have a lot of torque - 70 Nm would be quite a hit.
What do you think of this trend? What about the fact that major e-performance competitions are now also taking place? Would that also be an option for you to take part in such competitions?
