cycling: Marcel Kittel leads Ster ZLM Toer

Cycling: Things are going well again for Arnstadt's Marcel Kittel (Giant-Shimano) After his victory on the opening stage of the Ster ZLM Toer, he is now also leading the tour.

In yesterday's prologue, Kittel beat Belgian Philippe Gilbert (BMC) and had to settle for fifth place. On the first, 180-kilometre section from Rucphen to Sint Willebrord, however, he didn't miss a beat in the final and beat Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Sharp) by a bike length.

"I'm happy, proud and, to be honest, also relieved to have won today", said Kittel via Facebook after the race. “I'm happy that I'm returning to the racing circuit so well after the high-altitude training camp. I basically gained momentum over the Spanish mountains.”
