cycling: New team: In the name of Marco Pantani

June 21, 2014 by the editorial office

Cycling: The family of legendary cycling star Marco Pantani wants to get involved in cycling and found a new team under his name ten years after the legend died.

The newly founded Italian team will initially be run as an amateur team and will promote young Italian cyclists. In a second phase, it is planned to expand the team into a professional team.

The family would like young people to be able to pursue their sport with professional support, like their son did back then. "We want young cyclists to grow up and experience his passion in Marco's name", said Pantani's parents when asked about their motivation.

To make this dream come true, they are now working with the discoverer of the Pirates of Cesenatico, Pino Roncuzzi, together. This should be the technical director of the new team. He is currently looking for the first drivers who could join the team. The management will also be supported by Fortunato Baliani, with whom negotiations are currently underway.
