Cycling: The family of legendary cycling star Marco Pantani wants to get involved in cycling and found a new team under his name ten years after the legend died.
The newly founded Italian team will initially be run as an amateur team and will promote young Italian cyclists. In a second phase, it is planned to expand the team into a professional team.
The family hopes that young people can pursue their sport with professional support, just as their son did. "We want young cyclists to grow up in Marco's name and experience his passion ," Pantani's parents said when asked about their motivation.
To make this dream a reality, they are now working with Pino Roncuzzi, the discoverer of the Pirate of Cesenatico . He is slated to be the new team's technical director. He is currently scouting for the first riders who could join the team. Management will also be supported by Fortunato Baliani, with whom negotiations are currently underway.
