Product news: Sram presents 2015 line-up of hydraulic road bike brakes

June 23, 2014 by the editorial office

Market: A rocky road lies behind the US component manufacturer Sram. After the extensive recall of the last edition of hydraulic road bike brakes, everything is supposed to be different. For the coming season, all models have been extensively revised and new counterparts have been added.

There will be a total of four new hydraulic road bike brake groups (HydroR) in 2015, three of which include both rim and disc brakes. According to Sram, each group should take braking behavior to a new level.

A new brake lever is responsible for this, among other things. This has been reworked in such a way that the inner workings around the cylinder should now result in better response. Bleeding the brakes should also be made easier. For this purpose, the architecture in the lever was redesigned. The core of the new lever is the new cylinder. This should respond constantly even at extreme temperatures.

Sram also revised the brake springs, which now offer more tension and should therefore increase performance during braking.

The new levers also feature a narrower shift lever. However, this should not only contribute to weight reduction, but also contribute to easier gear changes. This should be particularly evident on cyclocross bikes in adverse conditions.
