Triathlon: At the end of the ITU World Triathlon stop in Hamburg, the British team was able to celebrate victory in the mixed relay. Germany took sixth place.
The German team started the World Championship race as defending champions. Rebecca Robisch initially swam cautiously, but delivered a good performance on the bike and was able to place in the top 5 until the first change.
Steffen Justus, who finished eighth in the individual competition, was then only able to keep up to a limited extent and had to watch how the Brits around Jonathan Brownlee increased the pace at the front.
After the second change things went better for Anja Knapp. Together with a few other athletes, she managed to catch up with the leaders again on the bike.
The French team completed the last change ahead of the British. They really turned things up in the form of Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee. Together with the Frenchman Vincent Luis, he managed to get a lead over the Australians and Hungarians who followed behind them. The latter secured third place after the final run. In front, however, Brownlee didn't let anything burn. In the sprint, he confidently broke away from Luis and thus relegated France to second place. Australia secured fourth place. In the sprint for fifth place, Germany was at a disadvantage compared to the USA.
