General: Lightweight construction: Cycling helps Formula 1 – AX-Lightness receives a development order

Market: It is firmly anchored in the imagination of many that Formula 1 represents the nirvana of high-end technology, the ultimate, it would take the cycling industry decades to reach the current level of technology in Formula 1. Some wheel manufacturers issue special editions with the names of well-known F1 racing teams, others praise their materials as Formula 1 proven.

For AX-Lightness as a supplier of carbon parts for Formula 1 and developer and manufacturer in cycling, the situation is completely different.

F1 Grand Prix of Germany

As part of the Grand Prix last weekend in Hockenheim, AX-Lightness GmbH received the order to optimize the existing composite parts of one of the top F1 teams in terms of weight and function. When examining the parts, the specialists around company owner Axel Schnurra quickly realized that there was a lot of potential in the details. The name of the team may not be mentioned for contractual reasons and because the season is still running. For Schnurra and AX-Lightness, who work on details for several teams, it is a matter close to their hearts to emphasize that high-end in cycling is on a par with high-end in automobile racing and, to be honest, often even a step above.
