Triathlon: The Challenge Roth is the most important long-distance triathlon in Germany. And this year, too, this was illustrated by an illustrious starting field. In the end, the favorites prevailed.
In the men's group, a larger group first got out of the water. Represented in this were, among others, Timo Bracht and Nils Frommhold, who started the race as favourites. With James Cunnama, Dirk Bockel and Pete Jacobs, however, no strangers were breathing down their necks on the bike. However, Frommhold was not impressed by this and switched to running shoes as the leader for a varied cycling part. In the end, however, he was 10 kilometers short of victory. Bracht, who ran an outstanding marathon, snatched this away from him. Third was the Spaniard Eneko Llanos.
For the women, the decision was also made in the marathon. Here the Hawaii winner Melinda Carfrae prevailed in front of Rachel Joyce and Caroline Steffen, who was still ahead after the swim.
