Market: It is undisputed that the French company Look is one of the pioneers of carbon frame construction; others will have to prove whether the brand new 795 Aerolight is actually the most aerodynamic road bike of all time, as the French proudly announce... one of the most exciting bikes in recent cycling history is definitely the 795 presented at the Tour de France.
The integration of all add-on parts has always been Look's specialty, which has been further perfected with this bolide. With its profile tubes, the Aerostem carbon stem, the ZED2 carbon monoblock crank, the new E-Post 2 seat post with battery holder and integrated cabling, the weight of the frame kit is only 1.500 grams.
The 795 is available with or without integrated brakes. The front brake is a Look in-house development and is located in the middle of the fork arms in a window-shaped recess. The brake caliper disappears completely in the fork, which enables better aerodynamics. The brake housing and brake cable of the front brake have been relocated: They disappear under the stem and run through it before they "dip" into the steerer tube and lead there to the brake caliper. However, external attachment is possible, then the connection to the brake caliper can be made from the left or from the right. The rear brake corresponds to the standard Shimano Direct Mount. It is located under the seat stays, the cabling is also integrated and runs in the diagonal tube and under the bottom bracket shell.
The ultra-light carbon stem weighs just 160 g and is above all, of course, aerodynamic, since the conventional cover has been replaced by a clamp. Advantage: The clamping screws disappear behind the handlebar and the clamp is very thin. Thanks to this feature and a more fluid design, this stem has a better drag coefficient, hence its name Aerostem. Typical for Look is the large adjustment range of +17° to -13°, which corresponds to a range of 57 mm over a length of 110 mm.
The ZED 2 crank by Look was developed with the aim of achieving the best possible ratio between the lowest possible weight and stiffness. With a weight of only 320g (including the two cranks and the axle) it is one of the lightest cranksets for road bikes on the market. Thanks to the tri-lobe axle technology at the end of the crank, the length of the crank can be adjusted between 170, 172,5 and 175 mm without having to remove the set.
In Germany, the following equipment variants will initially be available from specialist retailers:
