Market: The Tour de France is just around the corner and this year Oakley once again has a Special Edition Collection for the most important cycling race in the world.
The special editions of the Tour de France collection celebrate Oakley's long heritage in cycling. For 30 years, athletes with Oakley glasses have been facing the challenges of the most demanding bike race in the world and are constantly reaching new milestones: They conquer steep mountains, pull forward in the sprint to the finish line and win the overall ranking. This Signature Collection pays homage to iconic Oakley models, Oakley athletes and of course the Tour de France.
The 2014 Tour de France Collection consists of three models. In addition to the current sports glasses models RadarLock and Racing jacket, which will be worn by many drivers in the peloton again this year, there is also a limited special edition of the legendary eyeshade. The Eyeshade was Oakley's first sports eyewear in 30 years, with which Greg LeMond, among others, rode as a pioneer in the Tour de France.
All three models are kept in plain white. While the basic color of the frame for the white jersey represents the best young rider, the three other classification jerseys are reflected in three stripes in the colors of the three jerseys (yellow, green and red dotted) on the frame.
A laser engraving of the Tour logo on the lens and microclear bags in a special Tour de France design make the glasses collector's items.
In addition to the Tour de France Collection, Oakley is also presenting the new Signature RadarLock by Sprint Specialist Mark Cavendish. The frame with a green accent and the green mirrored lens of the Mark Cavendish Signature RadarLock would perfectly match the color of the green jersey, which Cavendish will certainly be racing for again this year. A special microbag and the Cavendish laser engraving round off the signature model.
