cycling: The UCI MTB World Cup Calendar 2015

August 1, 2014 by Rick Schubert

xc1

Cycling: Yesterday the UCI announced the racing calendar for the 2015 World Cup season. With Lourdes in France and Lenzerheide in Switzerland, two new venues are on the agenda. With the publication of the dates, however, it has now also become known that there will be no more XCE World Cups in the coming year.

In the coming year there will be a total of nine MTB World Cups. Four of these events will be double events and will host both cross country and downhill. Lourdes and Lenzerheide are new. Lenzerheide has already secured the UCI MTB World Championships for 2018 and will be entering international racing for the first time in 2015.

With the publication of the calendar, however, the definitive end of the XCE World Cup also became known. A few months ago we already reported on a possible end of the still young discipline. [Link]
According to the UCi, there should still be a world championship in the XC Eliminator: "Although XCE will not be represented in the World Cup this format will remain an important part of the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships."
