cycling: Tour boss Christian Prudhomme comes to the Sparkasse Münsterland Giro

Cycling: Münster wants to bring the Tour de France to Germany. This news attracted attention at the end of July. [Link] Now you want to get down to business and invite the tour boss himself to the Sparkasse Münsterland Giro.

On October 3rd, Prudhomme will be present at the start of the tour in York, Germany, only a few weeks after the visit of OBM's Markus Lewe from Münster. "It speaks for our race and the Münsterland that we have developed such a strong reputation within a decade", according to Lewe. "And of course it is also a certain honor that our race is now known up to the executive floor of the most important cycling race in the world."

The Sparkassen Münsterland Giro could thus "an application for the entire region" become, Lewe continues. "Now completely independent of whether a project like the Tour de France in Münsterland becomes reality and when - with patient work and attention to detail, we have created the basis for discussions that we would never have thought possible at the start of the Sparkassen Münsterland Giro in 2006 ; yes honestly, which we would never have dreamed of.”

If Munster's candidature as the starting point of the Tour de France becomes a reality, then the city would be the next German town to receive this honor after Cologne in 1965 and Berlin in 1987. However, there is still a long way to go and the result is still completely open, “But sometimes you have to have visions – maybe tackle crazy ideas at first glance. You can only grow with tasks, that was our motto from the start at the Sparkasse Münsterland Giro.”, concludes Lewe.
