Cycling: The sprint year is over. In Bad Salzdetfurth, the spectators again experienced an exciting finale. In addition to the day's victory, the German champion Simon Stiebjahn (Bulls) also secured the overall success. In the women's category, the Swiss Katrin Leumann (Ghost) prevailed in front of Veronika Brüchle (Stevens), who was able to celebrate the sprint crown thanks to her second place.
On a 400 meter long course that had to be driven twice, the participants had exciting races. Stiebjahn didn't miss a beat for the men. In the final, he faced his toughest competitor in the battle for the overall standings, Heiko Gutmann. Next to the two, Markus Bauer (Lexware) and Christopher Platt lined up at the start. Stiebjahn and Gutmann were in front from the start and offered a gripping duel to the finish, which Stiebjahn ultimately won. Bauer was third.
“We were both at the limit. The good thing was that I saw from behind that Heiko was broken. I thought, now everything again, then I've got it", Stiebjahn was pleased after his success.
In the women's race, Leumann easily defeated Veronika Brüchle and Majlen Müller (Fujbikes-Rockets). Lena Wehrle (Lexware) came fourth.
