Market: Clothing manufacturer Rapha presents a special edition in honor of the American cycling couple Conny Carpenter-Phinney and Davis Phinney. The jersey range is intended for use in autumn and winter, with part of the proceeds from sales going to charity.
Davis Phinney, father of BMC pro Taylor Phinney, was diagnosed with Parkinson's a few months ago. Two jerseys have now been developed together with Rapha.
The jerseys are made from Rapha's Sportswool and are dedicated to the careers of the two US cycling legends. In the 1980s, Conny Carpenter-Phinney and Davis Phinney were among America's top cyclists. They gained notoriety especially during the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles. Connie took the title in the first-ever road race in Olympic history, Davis finished fifth in the mass start and third in the time trial.
The jerseys point next to the Stars and Stripes-Themes a specially made zipper with the American Eagle on. There is also a zipped pocket on the back that is integrated into the pockets. The zipper of the women's jersey is gold, that of the men's jersey is bronze.
After being diagnosed with Parkinson's, the couple established the Davis Phinney Foundation to raise money for research into the disease. 10 percent of the proceeds from the sale of the jerseys goes to the organization www.davisphinneyfoundation.org.
