Test: Boa closures are now part of the non-plus-ultra on high-end shoes. It's the same with Scott. The Swiss send with the Road Team Boa a model that led our captain Tino Thömel to victory in China.
His test impression is correspondingly positive, although he does not hold back criticism.
equipment and practice
The Scott Road Team Boa has the in-house ErgoLogic system, which is intended to ensure a tight but ergonomic fit of the shoe. The sole is made of composite material and has a stiffness index of 9. There are three straps on the instep, two of which are closed with Velcro and one with a Boa fastener.
The shoe fits well from the first moment, although the tension of the two Velcro fasteners only releases after a few days. Thanks to the Boa closure, you can adjust the shoe as you wish, even while riding. The screw cap is easy to release and finely adjustable. However, it crunches a bit after driving in the rain. Under the tap, however, this problem can be quickly remedied.
The heel is narrow and offers the foot a firm hold. This makes it fit Road Team Boa not only on the instep like a glove.
The only drawback is the ventilation. There is a ventilation opening on the sole and the instep also has mesh inserts, but these only have a limited effect.
Conclusion
The Scott Road Team Boa sits perfectly on the foot and offers excellent power transmission thanks to its stiff sole. Only the ventilation could be optimized.
