Cycling: The Australian Mark Renshaw (Omega Pharma-QuickStep) won the second stage of the Tour of Britain and thus also took over the overall lead from Marcel Kittel (Giant-Shimano). The man from Arnstadt played no role in the final.

The second stage ran over 200 kilometers from Knowsley to Llandudno in Wales. After Cavendish's injury, the Omega Pharma-QuickStep team relied on Renshaw this time - with success. The Australian sent off Ben Swift (Team Sky) and Sam Bennett (Team NetApp-Endura) in the final.
