Cycling: Bjarne Riis caused a stir a few years ago when he invited his then team CSC to adventurous camps. In November he adds another chapter to this story.
With the full line-up of 80 people, Team Tinkoff-Saxo will be present at the foot of Kilimanjaro from November 1st. The highest mountain at 5.895 meters will then be the focus of an expedition for a few days, which is intended to bring the team members closer together. On the morning of November 5th, the summit of the highest free-standing mountain on earth should be the goal.
Team Manager Bjarne Riis: "I am very excited to be able to take advantage of this team camp in Africa to climb Kilimanjaro with the whole team."
The initiative for this camp came from Riis himself, after several veteran team members asked him about it. "I spoke to the management and got the green light from Oleg Tinkov", said the Dane on the team's website. “I want to see a group of people working together. [...] We want to form a team that shares common values, is proud to be part of the team and a strong, united group.”
One thing is certain for the team with this campaign: the attention of the competition, which will certainly have to deal with an ambitious group in the coming year.
