Cycling: Luca Schwarzbauer and David Horvath have extended their contracts with the Lexware mountain bike team. The two talented juniors joined the U2015 group in 23 with Georg Egger and Christian Pfäffle.
The two talents feel comfortable in the team from the Upper Black Forest, the two say in unison. “I think the Lexware Mountain Bike Team is one of the best junior teams in the world. In any case, I can't imagine anything better," says David Horvath, thereby immediately answering the question about the reasons for his contract extension.
“I feel very comfortable in the team, the conditions are very good and I also get along great with Georg Egger, Christian Pfäffle and David,” explains Luca Schwarzbauer.
The duo was very successful in the two junior years in the Lexware jersey. In 2014, Luca Schwarzbauer was runner-up in the European Championships and third at the World Championships, and David Horvath was fifth at the World Championships. They also won gold and silver at the German championship.
In 2015 they move up to the U23 category and then try to benefit from the two older players alongside the German U23 champion Georg Egger and the U23 DM third place Christian Pfäffle.
David Horvath has also made a change of location. The Reutlinger moved to an athletes' flat share in Freiburg and switched to the Max Weber High School.
“Here I can perfectly combine sport and school. In addition, I am close to the team base in Kirchzarten and have many training colleagues.", explains David Horvath. It is also good that he is now closer to coach Toni Uecker.
The coach from Rheinfelden is successfully responsible for the training management of the two previous juniors and will continue his work with the two talents in 2015.
“ We are delighted about the long-term contract extensions with both talented players. They have proven that they are very promising. Now it is about continuing to support them on their path towards the international elite in 2015 and helping them to make the transition to the U23 team as seamless as possible ,” says team manager Daniel Berhe.
Berhe has thus completed his team for 2015. The Lexware mountain bike team will have the following face next year:
U19 category - Lars Koch, Torben Drach, Maximilian Brandl, Anna Saier
U23 category – Lena Wehrle, Georg Egger, Christian Pfäffle, Luca Schwarzbauer, David Horvath
Marathon – Matthias Bettinger, Heiko Gutmann
All nine cross-country riders are next year members of the national team. The MTB formation from the Upper Black Forest is the largest contingent in the squad of the German Cyclists' Association.
"I think that we are very well positioned with our focus on youth work and can continue the great 2014 season", Daniel Berhe is optimistic about the future. Now the athletes are taking a well-deserved break from training.
After three German championship titles, twelve DM medals in total, European Championship silver and World Championship bronze, the Lexware bikers have well earned it.
